March Event #2 - The Living Desert Zoo & Gardens And Glow in the Park Light Show

Who doesn't love animals? Let's spend a day at The Living Desert Zoo & Gardens in Palm Desert, where we can walk through 50 botanical gardens intermixed with lots of amazing animals from North America, Africa and Australia. Plus there is an awesome model train display that can't be missed! The pathways are wide and paved, and it promises to be a really fun and wonderful day. And in the evening, there is an amazing "Glow in the Park" Light Show that will be the perfect ending of a wonderful day.

Meet Place & Time: At the Living Desert. Please arrive by 11:45AM - for a 12:00 Noon entry time.

Where Are We Going? Living Desert Zoo & Gardens, 47900 Portola Ave, Palm Desert, CA 92260 (approx. 2 hour drive from Eastvale - in good traffic)

What Are We Doing? We'll begin the afternoon with a picnic inside the Zoo, and then we'll wander along the pathways to see the animals and botanical gardens, and the amazing model train display. We might even feed a giraffe! When we've seen everything, we'll leave for dinner and then come back for the "Glow in the Park" light display. (Entry time - 6:30PM)

Carpools: Please contact the ladies who live in your area and arrange to carpool together.

Formula for Gas Fee: Total Round Trip Mileage ÷ 20 (MPG) x $5 (cost of gas per gallon & wear/tear on car)

Zoo Hours: 8:00AM - 5:00PM Daily
Glow in the Park Hours - 6:30PM - 10:00PM on specific dates
Combo-Tickets: Adult $69.00 Tickets have been purchased
Parking: Free

Lunch - Bring your own. There are multiple picnic areas located throughout the park.

Keeper Connections - Talks at various animal encounters throughout the day
Tennity Wildlife Hospital & Conservation Center - Learn how the animals are cared for
Endangered Carousel - 9:00AM - 4:30PM - Cost: $3.00 (buy tickets day of visit)
G-Scale Model Train Display - 3300 feet of track / 8 different loops / sits on 3/4 acre
Glow in the Park - Dazzling evening of light and wonder, featuring interactive exhibits and beautiful hand-crafted lanterns that light up the night.

Shopping: Appel Gift Shop (Entry Plaza)

Wear: FRIENDS shirt or something purple, comfy sturdy closed-toed shoes, and Red Hat (with a brim to shade your face).

Expected Weather: Mostly cloudy - high 84 / low 59

Bring: Water bottle, lunch, snacks, sunscreen, sweater/jacket for the evening.
